Booked tix for Dr. Doolittle next Wednesday, fingers crossed it will be good, I'll write a review!

On Monday after the Grand Christmas Draw, we are singing carols in our "local" (by local I mean the pub everyone goes to for a drink after rehearsals, as it certainly aint local to me!) Should be fun, trying to keep in tune in 4 part harmony without a pianist!

Oooo I have a video of me and my gang singing "Bring on Tomorrow" from "Fame", but it's on my OH's phone, so I'll have to get him to send me it, then I'll put it on youtube for the world to see!

Wow, I haven't updated for oooooh 6 months... that's quite a while!

Seussical was FABULOUS, much to critical acclaim, there are lots of pics on my facebook account.

Now, onto 2008! We've had a few concerts since Seussical, around and about, and of course the Christmas concert, which went down very well, we sang the "Hallelujah Chorus" Which was bloody brilliant!

Next year we have a couple of concerts, and a show:
A Rodgers and Hammerstien Concert in may, "Oh What a Lovely War" in September and a concert with Wirral School's Big Band in November! Busy year ahead, hopefully I will keep this blog updated!

Gosh, it's been a while!

Seussical is going well, as it should be with just over a week to go! I now have all my costumes, I know what I'm doing, what my motives are, and what I'm singing.

Very busy rehearsal schedule this week, monday/wed/fri/sun

Have been out every saturday for the last month promoting this show! Feels like I have been all over Merseyside!

Seussical is taking over my brain...

Rehearsals since the last update were pretty much the same old same old, still on the 1st act.

Mon 02/04/07

Started the music for the 2nd act, learnt "Chasing The Whos" and Having a Hunch! hopefully I'll be in that one.
Then we ran the first few songs, which were ok, but I do think we all need the easter break to relax, and start fresh on act 2!!

Hello blog, it's been a while!

Well, a lot has happened in the 3 weeks or so since my last posting, I've been to London to see Wicked again, which was just Phenominal, considering Martin Ball (Dr. Dillamond) and Katie Rowley-Jones (Nessarose) were both off. Kerry Ellis was great as Elphaba, although I think she needs to really become Elphaba, not just act her. Vocally she's superb.

Seussical

It's been a hard working few weeks with Seussical, found out I am a fish, which is fantastic, because I get to sing in "It's Possible" Which is one of my favourite songs in the show! So we've worked on that last week Monday 12th March. We have had our first Sunday rehearsal, which went very well, we ran through (not so much as a run as a drunken stagger) Act 1, which gave a nice flow to it, and showed us how much work we've done, and more importantly, how much we need to do before June 27th!

This Monday 19th March the Military Peeps had to be there early, I figure they would be doing the music, and since I had nothing better to do, I went along to watch, silly me. Turned out our MD is unwell (great, 4 days before a concert) so the Powers That Be (Director and Choreographer) decided to stage it, and guess who got roped into being a body to fill up a gap (left by someone who just didn't show up) Me! So now at least I know how the military goes!!!
Rest of rehearsal was much of the same old same old, spent some time in the Jungle of Nool and then played with Chasing the Who, In which I am a Who! Which is great, contrary to what I said when we started rehearsing this show!

The Magic of the West End

This concert, which is on Fri 23rd March, I don't know how I feel, some songs are vastly under-rehearsed which could spell catasrophe on Fri. Night if people aren't at full concentration. At least we have a full run on Thursday night.

Other News

I have an audition for a Short Course in Musical Theatre at LIPA on Thursday, open workshop type audition, so should be fun, that's from 6-7 then rehearsal at gladstone 7:30 sharp!

Monday 26/2/07

Started last night with the dance warm up, I swear they're getting more energetic each week, coped O.K. again *thumbs up*
Done some stretching excercises afterwards, wow, they really helped, especially one which was a bit like a push up

After the dancing, we done.... more dancing, well, marching, for the military song. Kinda like a fun audition, not to bothered if I get into that dance. I'd rather do McElliots Pool.

We spent a while going over our movements for the opening song, it's amazing how people forget from one week to the next what they are doing, and as the Director said "I don't think we'll have a full cast until opening night" I don't know how people miss rehearsals and then know what they are ment to be doing (or think they know)
So after the opening number we worked a lot on Horton Hears a Who/Biggest Blame fool, finishing off this piece, well all my fears of being a Tribesperson have vanised, as we humans are on stage for the entire number, and even get to do some nifty spinning and dipping! Go Tribly people!

Another good rehearsal, I am SO excited about this show.

Just a little thing I made in 5 mins! To put on message boards and the like

Monday's rehersal was great, I am starting to get the hang of this dancing thing (in the dance-warm up session) It's nothing majorly difficult, but my co-ordination is getting a lot better.

We just sang through the Who's music, concentrating on facial expression awareness, using our faces, and smiling whilst whoing.

We moved onto the opening, ran that (a bit pants) and into the jungle of nool (possibly a bit more pants) and then we set Whoville, I am a girl-group who! Possibly even a cheerleader who, which is cool, but my girl group consisits of one other girl, and she wasn't there last night!

Tuesday 20/02/07
Went to see Starlight Express (again, 3rd time) at the Liverpool Empire, excellent show, some changes to cast were very good (Poppa,Pearl, Flat Top and Dustin) some were not as good (Rusty,Dinah,Buffy,Ashley) and there were some cast members who were the same as last time (Greaseball and Elecktra)
The set was a lot simpler this time around, no "runway" out into the stalls, and only 2 moveable ramps which were used to great effect to creat small sets.
The Singing was great, apart from Pearl and Rusty not going for some of the Big Belty parts of songs. (the girls weren't vocally as strong as the last tour)
No-one fell over, although Pearl did stumble a little at the start of "Only He" which threw her a little off her next line, but she recovered very well.
All in all an excellent show, STEX is a show which I could watch again and again, it's so entertaining, if a little lacking in plot/character development!
It really captured the audience, who were great, and on average very young!

Weeeeeee Blogger is working again, I thought I had lost my blog for a minute. I was in turmoil!

Well rehersal was good on Monday, we sang through a couple of new numbers, and then worked on the opening number, and tried to link it through to "Horton Hears a Who" (in which I am a tribes person, remember) I feel a lot better about this, as we had a good laugh pretending to be cave-people and doing stuff such as plaiting hair and stirring the cooking pot! It was good fun.I ended up on the floor sunbathing, which is something I could get used to, maybe we could get a couple of daquiris and I'd be set to do the entire show off my face (I am honestly NOT a drunk!)

Going to see my friend J in his dance show tonight, despite the fact that I haven't seen my Other half properly all week, again, but we've decided it's better I go tonight than tomorrow and as he is working in Chorley (WTF) he's gonna be tired anyway.

Going to see Starlight Express (again, 3rd time) on Tuesday, should be a good show. Then in just over 2 weeks (or just under 3...) we are going to see Wicked again, I am so unbelivably excited you wouldn't belive, and hopefully I'll enjoy the 1st half more this time (I needed a pee from before Dancing [darrrrrncing] Through Life. Ouch)

Sunday 04/02/07

I went to see Beyond The Barricade, a touring show which features some of the West Ends best performers, singing some of the West Ends greatest Hits. The show featured Andy, they guy who took the Miss Saigon Workshop back in October. It was a pleasure to see him and his comrades perform, they all has stellar voices, and it was lovely to see Andy again after the show for a quick catch up!

Monday 05/02/07

Much more of the same really, managed to do the dance-warm up this week, as I kept well away from shop shutters! Re-capped (or should I say Knee-capped) what we did last week, and finished the number off, feeling much better about my dancing!

Wednesday 07/02/07

Kneepads came! No more sore knees!

Friday 09/02/09

Got my Roch Valley dance sneakers, they are GORGEOUS, black, with pink piping!

Friday, February 02, 2007

Whooo, I've been lazy this week, not updating till Friday!

Seussical rehersal was GRRRRRREAT on Monday, we started to stage the opening scene (All the Thinks you can Think) and I am right on the front of the stage, mostly on my knees, being a cat-esque (C) creature! Still haven't got ALL the way through it, my knees were killing me at the end of rehersals, so I have ordered some knee pads (£12...cheek)

Yesterday I had an informal audition with a local songwriter and producer, who are looking for vocalists for their up and coming projects, they seemed impressed with my voice, and the fact that I play all my instruments, and sight read! So fingers crossed I get to do some paid work!!!

22/01/07

Great rehersal last night, we done the Whos, played around with a few ideas, I am going to be a High School Who, the Vicars daughter! we are going for a perfect 50's thing, almost like Pleasntville or the Stepford wives, kinda so perfect it's creepy, it will be fun to see this look develop!

Done the dance warm-up again, better this week, I was more focused and co-ordinated.

Got the list of songs for the up-and-coming concerts, I am singing Matchmaker (trio), Bring On Tomorrow (Group) and All That Jazz (Duet)!!!

Thursday, January 18, 2007

Rehersal on Monday was more of the same, except I was there early... actually, that's no different, I'm always there early, but this week lots of other people were too, usually there is just me JJ & RD there at 7pm!! We were all there for Miss Choreographers Dance Fitness, just a little bit of aerobics to warm us all up and to try and shed some pounds! Well I must be fitter than I thought, cause we didn't stop for 20 mins and I wasn't even out of breath, and I can touch my toes!

Singing: Nothing new, just went over Biggest Blame Fool and the Who's music.

Blocking: Can't wait to set The Whos and the opening scene. I'm not particularly enjoying the jungle at the moment, but that's all we seem to be doing!

Oh, I also auditioned for Yertle the Turtle, needless to say I didn't get it as I was up against W, who is an outstanding comic actress who seems to be able to contort her face in so many ways it's untrue, and could get the low F which I can just not get, as I'm NOT AN ALTO!!!! (amyisatruemezzosoprano)
JB said when I questioned MY faces mobility "You're far to pretty to make stupid faces"

Monday, January 15, 2007

I just got back from a Weekend in Skipton in Lancashire (Yorkshire?) doing a Miss Saigon workshop, and it was Fantastic, we learnt, staged and performed 3 songs, "The Heat is on in Saigon" "Movie in my Mind" and "The Fall of Saigon"
I learnt so much, about staging, direction, performing and acting (more so I found out that I could act!)

Oh I also got cast as Kim!!! Which was amazing and such a confidence boost it's unbelivable. I performed her part in "The Heat is on in Saigon" and part of "Movie in my Mind" (The role was split because of the amount of ladies! I.e. they split nearly all of "Movie in my Mind") But, it was Fantastic

Seussical rehersal

Last night was good, I think, sang through a couple of the songs (Biggest Blame Fool and Here On Who) Then we were told what animals we would be in the Jungle of Nool. I say animals, most people were, but I am a tribes woman. Fair enough, as long as I don't have to wear a mob cap. (although I do feel as if they've put me as a TW because my movement isn't as good as other people. That's beside the point, as we all still get to sing the same stuff, and if we get our scenario really good we could steal the scene) us Tribesfolk aslo got told we are going to be the main Whos so.... well Whos are Cool I guess. Small though.

New year, New posts

Well 2007 is upon us, and with it comes a LOT of hard work, well up until June anyway, rehersals start full tilt on Monday (8th Jan) for our production of "Seussical the Musical" at the Liverpool Empire which starts on the 27 June and runs for a stonking 3 night till the 30th June, with a SAT matinee performance!
I am also starting my tap dancing properly, in a ever-lasting effort to get fit and toned up!

I guess on Monday we find out if we're "Whos" or "Nools" I'm hoping I'm a Noolian or a general Dogsbody, I would like to do as much as possible!!!

Next week, I have a "Miss Saigon" Workshop Weekend, in Leeds, which I am most excited about, although it will be a little scary, as we're apparently working with some top West-End directors (?) Maybe they'll see me and say "SHE NEEDS TO BE ELLEN IN OUR REVIVAL" (and we know what happens to people who play Ellen...They go on to be Elphaba!!!)

Our Christmas Concert went down very well, played to packed houses every night!

WKLOS have got a few concerts lined up, including a couple at Chester Zoo (nicely tied in with Seussical!) One at the Gladstone Theatre and 3 nights at Westborne Hall in April, looking forward to rehersing for all of that!

Well I will be updating more frequently now we're just about to start rehersing properly, and will try and bring as much detail and funny stories as I can!
