Damn. Damn. Damn.

It's took me so so long to post this...

Last Thursday I did something really, really stupid.

I fell down the step in work, and badly sprained my ankle, we honestly thought it was broken the way I hot the deck and the amount of pain. Holy crap. I have never felt pain like it.

Rushed straight to A&E, xray and all that jazz, luckily... no brake, just a very bad sprain. Tuesday now, and I've only just started putting my heel on the floor to walk. It's swollen, bruised and very unstable.

So, no dancing for me for a few weeks at least.... dammit. Luckily we have JUST finised choreo for crazy & side by side. Phew.

Sunday's rehearsal was spent sat with my leg up, watching the blocking for "company" so at least I saw what I'm supposed to be doing!

Last night I wasn't called so I spent it with my feet up!

Mass update, and YAY IT'S SPRING!

Wooooo we HAVE been super busy.

The last few rehearsals we have been working on Side By Side, that is boxed of and set all the way through.

You Could Drive a Person Crazy is set and a work in progress, it's just gonna get better and better now!

Another Hundred People is set, as is all the scenes in/about/out of it.

It's all ticking along quite nicely, a lot to do, a lot of hard work but it's getting there.

Here's a sneak peak of what we've been working on:

Company rehearsals Monday 1/2/16, Sunday 7/2/16, Monday 8/2/16 and Wednesday 10/2/16

Monday 1st Feb
What an easy rehearsal, nice dance warm up (getting fitter.... ha!) then the Husbands and Wives set a bit more of "Side by Side" Whilst us Girlfriends went off and sang through "You Could Drive a Person Crazy" a few times! 2nd half we had a bash through "Company" - it's kinda tricky but not something we can't handle!

Sunday 7th Feb
Another easy rehearsal, I was only called to start on "Another Hundred People" - which we did about 30 minutes work on (anymore I think would be too knackering!) That was that... ended up watching the rest of the afternoon as it was more entertaining than going home to watch the TV.

Monday 8/2/16
This was a bit of a strange one, we had a lot of people missing, so we started with a dance warm up, which was great! Need to be doing these every day Haha!

Then the Husbands & Wives went on to re-cap and set some more of "Side by side" - a part of which we girlfriends are not in, SO I stood in for someone who was not there (we were a bit thin on the ground on Monday night!) Therefore I have learned choreo for a bit that I am not in, then when I do come in will be doing something totally different!

After a short tea break, we again did some work on "Company" It's really hard when half the cast are MIA but we battled through... and didn't even get to the bit where Marta joins in... ho hum.

Wednesday 10/2/16

DANCING TIME! wahoo, we began to set the choreo... hang on a sec... did I just WAHOO Dancing... this is something I never thought I'd do. I'm not a natural dancer (I'm very clumsy) anyway, we started choreo for "You Could Drive a Person Crazy" - It's so fun, kinda cute, and incredibly sassy!

Things are really starting to come along now and we are back at rehearsal on Sunday, for blocking all my scenes... ooo this should be fun!

Till the next update....

Monday 25/01 & Sunday 31/01

Monday 25th Jan.

We had an hour long dance class and then we started the music for "side by side" - nice easy start to the reheasal process for Company

Sunday 31st Jan
Crecy audition for Kathy and got the role! Yay! So we have a nearly complete cast!
We did a bit of singing (side by side) - then the hubbies & wives started choreo and us gfs had a bash through "you could drive a person crazy" - we then read through the 1st act.

After the break we did a bit more choreo and read through 2nd act.

All in all a great rehearsal!

Monday 18/0/16

Last night was our last Monday rehearsal for "Great American Song Book" as due to "Company", rehearsals for "GASB" are going to be moved to a Wednesday night. With "Company" rehearsals being on a Mon night.

We rehearsed "Blue Moon" - which has been stuck in my head ever since and made a start on "Porter" which is a Cole Porter medly.

Next week the real hard work begins as I will have rehearsals Sunday, Monday & Wednesday!

I can't believe it's 2016

My last post was 2012....

Oh boy.

I feel like neglecting this blog is an awesome hobby...

So, we did Titanic in 2012 and it didnt make as much money as planned, artistically it was wonderful and the creative experience was brilliant, but the result was a big loss for the society.

So.... since then we haven't staged a major show.

2013 saw "eurobeat" with Neston Players. I was the lead singer for Hungary. I had to sing in Hungarian!!

2015 was supposed to be the year we did Sister Act, we held auditions, in October 2014.
I got cast as michelle or tina... we never got round to deciding which part as the show never went ahead, for many, many reasons. It resulted in a major shake up with the society and the formation of a new committee & new chairman - all for the better of the society!

2015 we staged a "moved concert" called "From this moment on" - a new beginning and new chapter in WKLOS history

We have done many different concerts including The Philharmonic Hall (A DDay celebration concert) and St Georges Hall (A Christmas Concert)

So, onto 2016.

In the first half of 2016 we are doing 2  productions.

The first is Stephen Sondheim's musical comedy "Company" in May at Westbourne Hall

In July we will be producing a full company concert celebrating all the classic American Composers in "The Great American Songbook"

Company....

Company ia going to be brilliant. We had a fantastic couple of nights workshops, going through the music and exploring the dance side of the show!

Last Sunday was audition day.... oh god the nerves.... the whole hall was buzzing with tension and nerves. Everyone wanted to bw a part of this small cast (14) musical so much!

I auditioned for Marta & Susan.

We then had to wait unitil the following WEDNESDAY. Oh lordy the wait was excruciating. Every time my phone buzzed with an email my tummy flipped!

Then, on Wednesday night I got THE EMAIL.

I GOT THE PART!!! I have been cast as Marta
Well. I screamed, I was shaking, I cried a little bit!

Now the hard work starts. We start reheasals soon and I am most definitely going to be keeping a blog of our rehearsal process as this is a first MAJOR role in a show for me! Had lots of small roles before...

So. COMPANY 2016... bring it on!!

Thursday, February 02, 2012

Wow.... SO LONG. I am a bugger for neglecting my blogs. I will try not to in future.

So,

2009, Chess... AMAZING. So much fun was had!

2010 - Once Upon A Time at the Adelphi. Major premire of this musical written for the 2008 capitol of culture in Liverpool, we were the first amature society to perform it... (I was an "Adelphi Singer")

2010 - A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum (Protean)- This was the BEST SHOW I HAVE EVER DONE. So so so funny and the best cast ever, some of my best friends and some really talented people made this show one I will NEVER EVER forget doing!

2011 - Guys and Dolls (Hot Box Dancer/Chorus) Another good show, shame our audiences were lower due to it being on in Wales just a couple of months previously!

Now, on to the BIG ONE.

Titanic: The Musical.
We're currently in rehearsals for this show, to be staged at the Liverpool Empire in June 2012.

It's going to be epic, and a fitting tribute to the centenery of the disaster.

We've also got a few concerts coming up. More about them in due time! :)

Peace. Amy x

A long long time ago, in a blog far away...

Well not far away, right here!

It's been SO long since my last blog update!

Oh What A Lovely War was a great success! Our 2009 show is "Chess"

We've had the auditions, and are well into rehearsal, I have been cast in the "Pop Choir" (Pop Tarts)

I will try my hardest to update this blog after every rehearsal from now on!

Thursday, July 31, 2008

Hello, OWALW is coming along quite nicely, we have been cast, and I have a song to sing, all on my own! Called "Hitchy Koo" not much else is happening!

23/06/08

OWALW:

Monday's rehersal was O.K. we started reading a couple of scenes, one famous in history, where the English (Tommy's) and German (Jerry's) ceased being enemies for 1 night, at Christmas in the trenches.

The we done a scene with "Mrs Pankhurst" and a scene with Nurses, and Nick, the director asked me to read!

A good, rehersal, cut short by a small party for W's 50th which was nice :)

Monday 16th June 2008

Not so much to report today, went through the songs again.. it's hard to learn without the dots, and they're not the most "hummable" tunes ever written!

Monday 09/06/08

Rehearsal was good, sang through the songs in OWALW then they auditioned for the M.C. and Haig, and the girls done an "audition" which was just a bit of fun, trying to enlist the troops!

Next week we will doing the music again

Ho hum, well Evita has finished (for me at least, all the proper cast & crew have a good 12 months left!) It was fantastic, a great learning experience, I'm honored to say I've been a part of it, thank you to everyone. The cast & crew for being so accomodating and friendly (wishing them all the best for Edingburgh, and will be going to see them in Manc-land) and my fellow supers for making the time in the dressing room unforgetable!

Alas, back to normal for me, and into WW1!

I will (be trying my best to) blog after every rehearsal for Oh What a Lovely War, like what was attempted with Seussical.

So much has happened since last year!

We've had highs and lows and are still going strong!

Lows:
Very bad audition resulting in no getting a solo in the R&H concert
Having to give up LIPA

Highs:
The R&H concert!
Getting a part in EVITA national tour as a super, still in the middle of a 2 week run (which is why I had to give up LIPA)

Next show is "Oh What a Lovely war" I will be keeping a full blog for this!

Thursday, December 13, 2007

Booked tix for Dr. Doolittle next Wednesday, fingers crossed it will be good, I'll write a review!

On Monday after the Grand Christmas Draw, we are singing carols in our "local" (by local I mean the pub everyone goes to for a drink after rehearsals, as it certainly aint local to me!) Should be fun, trying to keep in tune in 4 part harmony without a pianist!

Oooo I have a video of me and my gang singing "Bring on Tomorrow" from "Fame", but it's on my OH's phone, so I'll have to get him to send me it, then I'll put it on youtube for the world to see!

Tuesday, December 11, 2007

Wow, I haven't updated for oooooh 6 months... that's quite a while!

Seussical was FABULOUS, much to critical acclaim, there are lots of pics on my facebook account.

Now, onto 2008! We've had a few concerts since Seussical, around and about, and of course the Christmas concert, which went down very well, we sang the "Hallelujah Chorus" Which was bloody brilliant!

Next year we have a couple of concerts, and a show:
A Rodgers and Hammerstien Concert in may, "Oh What a Lovely War" in September and a concert with Wirral School's Big Band in November! Busy year ahead, hopefully I will keep this blog updated!

Monday, June 18, 2007

Gosh, it's been a while!

Seussical is going well, as it should be with just over a week to go! I now have all my costumes, I know what I'm doing, what my motives are, and what I'm singing.

Very busy rehearsal schedule this week, monday/wed/fri/sun

Have been out every saturday for the last month promoting this show! Feels like I have been all over Merseyside!

Tuesday, April 03, 2007

Seussical is taking over my brain...

Rehearsals since the last update were pretty much the same old same old, still on the 1st act.

Mon 02/04/07

Started the music for the 2nd act, learnt "Chasing The Whos" and Having a Hunch! hopefully I'll be in that one.
Then we ran the first few songs, which were ok, but I do think we all need the easter break to relax, and start fresh on act 2!!

Wednesday, March 21, 2007

Hello blog, it's been a while!

Well, a lot has happened in the 3 weeks or so since my last posting, I've been to London to see Wicked again, which was just Phenominal, considering Martin Ball (Dr. Dillamond) and Katie Rowley-Jones (Nessarose) were both off. Kerry Ellis was great as Elphaba, although I think she needs to really become Elphaba, not just act her. Vocally she's superb.

Seussical

It's been a hard working few weeks with Seussical, found out I am a fish, which is fantastic, because I get to sing in "It's Possible" Which is one of my favourite songs in the show! So we've worked on that last week Monday 12th March. We have had our first Sunday rehearsal, which went very well, we ran through (not so much as a run as a drunken stagger) Act 1, which gave a nice flow to it, and showed us how much work we've done, and more importantly, how much we need to do before June 27th!

This Monday 19th March the Military Peeps had to be there early, I figure they would be doing the music, and since I had nothing better to do, I went along to watch, silly me. Turned out our MD is unwell (great, 4 days before a concert) so the Powers That Be (Director and Choreographer) decided to stage it, and guess who got roped into being a body to fill up a gap (left by someone who just didn't show up) Me! So now at least I know how the military goes!!!
Rest of rehearsal was much of the same old same old, spent some time in the Jungle of Nool and then played with Chasing the Who, In which I am a Who! Which is great, contrary to what I said when we started rehearsing this show!

The Magic of the West End

This concert, which is on Fri 23rd March, I don't know how I feel, some songs are vastly under-rehearsed which could spell catasrophe on Fri. Night if people aren't at full concentration. At least we have a full run on Thursday night.

Other News

I have an audition for a Short Course in Musical Theatre at LIPA on Thursday, open workshop type audition, so should be fun, that's from 6-7 then rehearsal at gladstone 7:30 sharp!

Monday 26/2/07

Started last night with the dance warm up, I swear they're getting more energetic each week, coped O.K. again *thumbs up*
Done some stretching excercises afterwards, wow, they really helped, especially one which was a bit like a push up

After the dancing, we done.... more dancing, well, marching, for the military song. Kinda like a fun audition, not to bothered if I get into that dance. I'd rather do McElliots Pool.

We spent a while going over our movements for the opening song, it's amazing how people forget from one week to the next what they are doing, and as the Director said "I don't think we'll have a full cast until opening night" I don't know how people miss rehearsals and then know what they are ment to be doing (or think they know)
So after the opening number we worked a lot on Horton Hears a Who/Biggest Blame fool, finishing off this piece, well all my fears of being a Tribesperson have vanised, as we humans are on stage for the entire number, and even get to do some nifty spinning and dipping! Go Tribly people!

Another good rehearsal, I am SO excited about this show.
